As a general rule of thumb, you should start to notice vaginal discharge after getting ready for sex. In many people, this discharge is due to a change in the hormone that causes vaginal dryness (conjugated estrogens) so it can help prevent this. Vaginal dryness may start appearing around the time of arousal (e.g. between sex toys) so it's important to wear protective vaginal underwear as much as possible to help maintain the dryness. Vaginal irritation, itching, or redness can occur as a result of dryness of the vaginal skin. Vaginal burning, stinging, or irritation is normal during sex so it's important to wear protective vaginal underwear as much as possible to help maintain the dryness.

In rare cases, Premarin can cause more serious side effects such as breast tenderness, swelling, or pain. These are usually temporary and may resolve on their own. Call your doctor for medical advice about side effects.

Do not use Premarin if you have a history of blood clots, ovarian cysts, breast cancer, liver disease, heart disease, stroke, blood clotting problems, high or low levels of a hormone, or if you are taking other medications.
